DetailsAntique glass box or candy dish from Portieux, depicting an elegant swan.
This candy dish is made of translucent green molded glass, in the style of uranium glass. It has a beautiful luminous effect, with a bright green and slightly satiny hue.
The design depicts a stylized swan with its neck bent forward, its beak extended, and its tail raised. The body is worked in relief with a design imitating feathers. The swan's head is painted gold, with painted details around the beak and eyes.
The piece is marked inside “Portieux”, which allows it to be attributed to the famous Portieux / Vallerysthal glassworks.
It can be used as a candy dish, jewelry box, display item, collectible decoration or collector's item.
It probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century, around 1900/1930.
It is in good overall condition, with minor chips on the edges and under the base, visible in the photos. There is also slight wear to the gold paint on the head, which is normal for an antique item. No significant damage is visible.
A very beautiful antique piece, decorative and sought after, ideal for a collection of glass, antique French glassware or display objects.
