This authentic piece, crafted from hand-painted terracotta, originates from India and likely dates from the second half of the 20th century.
The figure is depicted standing, hands clasped in the mudra of adoration (anjali), in an attitude of prayer and reverence. He wears his traditional attributes: a crown, gold jewelry, a blue belt, and a mace over his shoulder. The statue is adorned with gold paper on certain parts (notably the headdress and ornaments), which accentuates its sacred and decorative aspect.
The original polychromy, in shades of beige, white, blue, green, and gold, remains visible despite the marks of time. It shows some paint loss and chips on the base and body (see photos), but retains all its authentic charm and expressive power.
This unique piece can enrich an interior with ethnic or spiritual decor, or be a collector's item or object of personal devotion.
