Rare antique small bust of Louise Brongniart after Houdon, in biscuit porcelain, on a gilt cobalt blue base, 15 cm, 20th century

A very pretty little biscuit and porcelain bust representing Louise Brongniart, after the famous model sculpted by Jean-Antoine Houdon.

This elegant decorative piece, with its classic charm, depicts a young girl with gentle features, her hair styled in an updo, her gaze delicately turned. The bust is crafted from matte white bisque, giving a very fine and delicate finish to the details of the face, hair, and upper torso. It rests on a circular base of cobalt blue glazed porcelain, enhanced with a fine gold decoration. The contrast between the matte white of the bisque and the deep blue of the base lends considerable presence to this small sculpture.

The piece is marked with the letter N on the back and bears the inscription "Made in Japan" under the base. It is probably a 20th-century Japanese production, made in the style of classical European busts inspired by the 18th century.
