An old and rare 20th-century Satsuma Japanese vase, made of polychrome glazed ceramic with rich gold decoration, depicting a geisha surrounded by five sages.
This vase has an elegant baluster shape, with an ovoid body, rounded shoulders, a short neck and a slightly flared circular opening.
It is made of glazed ceramic, with a polychrome decoration combining red, blue, green and yellow on a background abundantly enhanced with gilding.
Its rotating backdrop depicts a geisha dressed in a richly ornamented traditional costume, surrounded by five Japanese sages with expressive faces.
The figures are arranged in large circular gilded medallions, accompanied by floral, geometric and architectural motifs evoking Japanese artistic traditions.
The ceramic has a finely crackled glaze, characteristic of Satsuma style productions.
The underside bears painted marks corresponding to an unidentified signature, as well as an old label bearing the number 7003.
This Japanese vase dates from the 20th century.
