DetailsAntique bronze trinket tray depicting an old Breton woman smoking a pipe.
This is a beautiful decorative table object, which can be used as a catchall, small decorative ashtray, desk item or regional collector's piece.
The piece is made of patinated bronze, octagonal in shape, with a circular recessed base. The central decoration is in relief and depicts a Breton woman in profile, dressed in traditional Breton clothing. She wears a typical headdress and smokes a long pipe, a very expressive detail that gives the object a great deal of character.
The style is regionalist Breton, in the style of souvenir and decorative objects from the mid-20th century. The brown and gold patina beautifully highlights the reliefs of the decoration and gives the whole piece a lovely antique appearance.
The reverse is understated, with a slightly domed surface. The object is heavy for its size, which confirms its high quality of manufacture.
It dates from the mid-20th century.
It is in good overall condition, with an antique patina, minor signs of wear, and normal age-related marks. See photos for details.
