DetailsLarge earthenware bowl or centerpiece from Desvres, produced by the Fourmaintraux Frères factory.
This decorative piece rests on four feet, two of which are adorned with grotesque figures in relief. The two large side handles represent winged gargoyles, giving the whole a very original, theatrical and rare character.
The central motif features a flower basket surrounded by scrolls, tendrils, and a rich polychrome floral design. The colors are vibrant and typical of Desvres decorative earthenware: blue, yellow, green, orange, pink, and white.
The edge is undulating and scalloped, in a neo-Renaissance / neo-rocaille style, with a beautiful decorative presence.
This bowl can be used as a centerpiece, decorative planter, serving bowl or collector's item.
It is signed underneath: “A II FF”, attributable to the Fourmaintraux Frères factory in Desvres.
It probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Note: one base depicting a figure has been reattached. There are small chips, manufacturing defects, irregularities in the glaze, and signs of wear consistent with age. Overall, the piece remains in good condition and retains a very attractive decorative presence.
