DetailsDiscover this ethnological terracotta vase, a rare and expressive piece, inspired by Mesoamerican art and pre-Columbian cultures.
This vase depicts a seated figure in a ritual pose, holding a small vessel in its hands. Its expressive face is surmounted by an imposing ornamental skull, evoking symbols of death and spirituality. The whole piece embodies powerful religious or funerary imagery characteristic of ancient Central American cultures.
Made of terracotta in shades of brown and black, naturally patinated over time. The object displays a beautiful homogeneity of colors, enhanced by the sculpted reliefs.
Good overall condition. Note: a visible chip on the lower lip of the figure (see close-up photo). No other structural damage. The object remains very stable and decorative.
