Antique gilt bronze incense boat, dating from the late 19th century.

This is a beautiful liturgical object formerly used in churches to hold incense for the censer. Its elongated shape, called a "shuttle," is reminiscent of a small nave or an oriental lamp.

The piece is made of gilt bronze with rich bas-relief decoration. The body features floral motifs, palmette friezes, scrolling foliage, and beaded borders. The hinged lid is finely ornamented, and the handle takes the form of a stylized shell, adding considerable elegance to the whole.

It rests on a small circular pedestal decorated with leaves and plant motifs. The ends are finished with small decorative finials, characteristic of the religious and ornamental taste of the late 19th century.

This shuttle can be presented as a religious collectible, an item in a cabinet of curiosities, an antique decoration, a liturgical object, or a decorative piece in a classical, baroque, or eclectic interior.

Condition: Good overall condition with a beautiful antique patina. The shuttle is bent and dented in places, as seen in the photos.
