The portrait depicts a young man in period costume, his hair powdered, draped in warm shades of yellow, ochre, brown, and red, with a wide white ruff and a black bow on his chest. The overall effect captures the refined spirit of 18th-century portraits, in an elegant, theatrical, and highly decorative style.
The miniature is signed on the side: “MS d’Fragonard”.
It is presented in a square, patinated wooden frame with a wide, molded circular border and a bronze-gilt inner ring. The back of the frame retains an old printed paper, adding considerable charm and authenticity to the piece.
