Details
Antique Chinese lamp in white glazed stoneware from Shiwan, made from a vase or decorative group mounted as a lamp.
It depicts two cranes perched on an openwork rocky background. The birds are finely modeled, with a slightly speckled creamy-white glaze, dark beaks, and long, dark legs. The rocky base displays bluish, brown, and black hues, creating a beautiful, natural, mineral effect.
This lamp is characteristic of Shiwan decorative Chinese productions, prized for their sculptural forms, expressive glazes, and nature-inspired subjects. The crane motif evokes longevity, elegance, and serenity in Asian art.
It is topped with a conical white cardboard lampshade that diffuses a soft, warm light. The whole piece is a beautiful decorative item, ideal for an Asian, eclectic, boho chic, cabinet of curiosities, or collector's interior.
It dates from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The lamp is functional and in good overall condition. Signs of use consistent with its age: slight patina, small marks on the enamel, natural wear on some elements, marks on the stem and lampshade.
