  This superb covered box or ginger jar is an antique piece of crackled porcelain of Chinese origin, dated to the late 19th or early 20th century.
  
  It is in the classic style of the Qing dynasty, with a careful decoration consisting of Chinese characters calligraphed in cobalt blue, repeated across the entire glazed surface. The off-white background, typical of ancient glazes, reveals a network of highly sought-after firing cracks.
  
  The box is enhanced with gilded brass mounts, which highlight its refinement and make it a beautiful decorative object, whether in a cabinet of curiosities or in a display case. Under the base, there is a Chinese inscription referring to the Shunzhi Emperor, in homage to this prestigious period of imperial history.
